Seamless gutter installation and replacement in Matthews
Most of the gutter work we do is replacement, and getting the old gutters down is half the project. Gutters tend to wear out at around 20 years, sooner if they're the builder-grade ones that came with the house.
We build seamless gutters on site. A machine on our truck forms .032 aluminum coil into one continuous piece for each side of the roof, so the only seams are the corners and end caps, and we seal both. Sectional gutters come in ten-foot pieces, and every joint between them eventually leaks.
Each run hangs on heavy-duty hidden hangers screwed into the fascia, pitched toward its downspout, and we bend the downspouts on site to fit. We replace soft fascia before anything new goes up. We haul the old gutters away, and the cleanup is backed by our $50 cleanup guarantee.
Signs your gutters need replacing
- The gutter sags or has pulled away from the fascia board.
- Water runs down behind the gutter instead of into it when it rains.
- The fascia board behind the gutter is soft or rotting.
- You keep finding spikes and nails in the yard.
- The gutters are more than 20 years old.
One of these on its own is usually a repair. Several at once means the system is worn out.
Sizes, materials and colors we install
Nearly every gutter we install is seamless aluminum. Charlotte's short, heavy rainstorms can send a lot of water off your roof in just a few minutes. A 6-inch gutter handles more water than a 5-inch, which makes it the better option for those downpours, especially on steep roofs and long gutter runs. For most homes in the Charlotte area, we recommend 6-inch gutters. We rarely install 5-inch anymore: 6-inch runs about 10% more, and in almost every case it's worth it. Undersized gutters are the most common problem we find around Charlotte: in a hard rain the water overshoots the lip, runs down the fascia and rots the board.
Downspouts come in 2x3 and 3x4, and the 3x4 clogs less under trees. We hang K-style, half-round and box profiles in colors matched to common fascia and trim, and we can run downspouts into underground drainage.

Gutter guards in Matthews
A lot of Matthews houses sit under mature pines, and pine needles slide through any screen with openings much wider than the needle. Under pines, stainless steel micro-mesh is the only guard I'll put on your home. Oak and maple leaves are easier, since almost any guard sheds them.
We keep four guard types on the truck, and our main systems, ONE and Lock n Mesh, both carry a lifetime material warranty from the manufacturer. Guards cost the least when they go on with new gutters. They cut the upkeep down to a look and a rinse but don't end it, because spring pollen still settles on top of any guard. Our gutter guards page goes through each type.
Gutter repair in Matthews
A leaking corner, a run that came loose in a storm, a section with the pitch off: those are repairs. Most of our repairs run $250 to $700, and rotted fascia is what usually pushes a job past that. If a repair will do, I'll tell you, and if replacement is the better spend, the estimate shows both prices. More on our gutter repair page.
